Hello Readers,
Here is another entry from Canada and I am pleased to say that I am still enjoying my Canadian holiday and have no regrets about coming to find the colder weather.
We spent Christmas day in Peterborough, Ontario and on Boxing Day we drove East to Hudson which is just outside Montreal. The further east we drove, the more snow there was. The trees looked like small Christmas cake trees and it was a typical Christmas card scene. We arrived in Hudson in the early evening and crunched through the snow to the house. We did not have time to unpack the car as we had tickets for a Pantomime at the local Theatre which is really the local railway station and it was funny, cheesy and all the things pantomime should be.
Yesterday we had a houseful of people and by the evening, the snow was falling again which made me very happy. This morning, I forgot how cold it was until I went outside and I know that tomorrow I will certainly be glad of the layers of clothes I have brought with me. This afternoon, we walked out of the mall into a blizzard. Fortunately, we didn’t have to walk too far to the car. The snow gets into your eyes here but it feels good walking through it even though it is very cold.
The other thing I’ve been learning about is PCVS which is a school in Ontario threatened by closure. At the moment, it is receiving a lot of very good publicity in the hope that the School Board will change their decision. Plans to promote the school’s achievements and good facilities, include a concert which will be given by well-known Canadian artists and lots of other activities have been taking place to raise awareness of this very good school which has a long tradition of passed students who have included a former Canadian Prime Minister.
I would certainly recommend that anyone interested should look at Kate and Janelle on Youtube. These two singers are former students who are carving out very successful singing careers in Canada and are worth listening to and watching. Hopefully, this blog will result in more hits on their Youtube performance.
Looking forward to reading more posts from you while you’re enjoying the changeable temperatures and weather here in Canada.
Enjoy New Years in Hudson!
