Some Musical Thoughts

The last few months have been very interesting in several ways, some of
which I can write about and others not. I will concentrate on the musical
aspects of my life for the moment and hope that whoever reads this will find
my comments of some interest.

Anyone who reads this with any connections to Welsh Male Voice Choirs will
know of the sad passing at the beginning of April of Bryan Davies, who was a
well-known musician in South Wales and also internationally. Bryan was one
of those people who always encouraged me with my singing whenever we met and
I am sure readers of my blog will agree he will be a great loss to the world
of Music. Last Sunday, I was the Soprano soloist in a performance of
Handel’s ‘Messiah’ in a beautiful Church in the Monmouthshire countryside.
As I stood up to begin singing ‘I know that my Redemer Liveth’, the sun came
streaming in through the window and I felt it was one of those special and
unforgettable moments. I would like to think that Bryan was there with us
in spirit, enjoying the performance and hopefully approving of my singing.

Anne.
