Yes, I know it’s late but I am now determined to write my blog on a regular
basis. I was thinking how much a part of life the computer and the Internet
have become. In some instances they are a lifeline to a lot of people and
they must be especially to those who write. I always look forward to Emails
and messages from friends and family wherever they may be at the time of
writing to me.
Earlier this evening, I listened to the transmission on Radio 3 of the
Richard Strauss Opera ‘Capriccio’ from the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
Renee Flemming took the title role and what a wonderful singer she is. I
have to say that there is something about the quality of her voice which is
completely unique and I have decided that she has to be my favourite
Soprano, the one I use as a role-model for my own singing. However, I
realise that I am setting myself such a high standard but the sky is the
limit when you love what you do and Music is something I’m passionate about
Hearing Renee Flemming sing reminded me of the time I was learning the
Soprano solo part in Mendelssohn’s Oratorio, ‘Elijah’. I used the CD
recorded by Renee Flemming and Bryn Terfel to listen to the work and it was
magical! I think I will remember that time as one of the happiest times in
my life. I put my soul into preparing for that performance which took place
in March, 2010 and if I ever perform it again, which I hope I will, I will
always remember that first time I sang that solo part as being one of the
happiest experiences I have ever had.
Now for some sleep but I will write more tomorrow. I hope the quality of
writing has improved since my first attempts at blogging.
Anne.
