Bridgend soprano is Learning Welsh

Don’t look too closely at the time of this post. I must learn to have earlier nights! Especially that now my life has slowed down just a little.

Have spent a quiet evening at home enjoying some TV programmes and trying not to feel guilty about veging in front of the TV when I should really be doing things. I particularly enjoyed the programme on BBC2 about Welsh tenors and the one on S4C about an hour later about Sopranos. Welsh sopranos were shown singing in various locations in Venice. I particularly enjoyed this as I have been to Venice but unfortunately, did not sing there – not even when I had my never-to-be-forgotten ride in a gondola! And I wasn’t serenaded by a fabulous tenor either! I will have to dig out some of the pictures of my venice experience and put them on my website as they might be added interest to some who read this.

I always think it is good to open up E-mails and read good news. Definitely had a nice piece of news to end Tuesday. Some readers of my blog will know that as well as singing and a whole list of other things which I do, I am also learning Welsh. I am hopeful and positive that I will pass the exam I have entered for in June even though I have a bit of home-work catching up to do. However, sometime ago, we were told in the class that for the next level we would be required to read a simple Welsh novel. The one which is
set for us is ‘Bywyd Blodwen Jones’ by Bethan Gwanas and when our tutor read a passage or two from it, I thought it would be so much fun to read and decided to see what I could find out about it being published in Braille. I E-mailed Bethan Gwanas who took up the campaign and the first volume is already in Braille now, the second is being transcribed. I had a very nice Email from her saying it was all thanks to me that the Braille transcription of this book was being undertaken so I feel really pleased to have done some good.

All for the moment. Will write more again soon.

Anne.
